About Us

New Classic Press was established in the United Kingdom in 2008 by Beijing Qiushiyuan Culture & Communication Company Ltd. It has got its offices in London and Edinburgh – the two major publishing centers of Great Britain. It is the first privately owned Chinese publishing house outside mainland China.

New Classic Press is committed to promote cultural exchanges between China and the world, and has recently embarked on project aimed at informing the world about the vibrant Chinese culture and way of life. It publishes Chinese books in English for the international readers on a wide range of subjects ranging from business, society, culture and politics. It has published over 200 books written by some of the best writers in China reflecting on different aspects of China’s mainstream culture. New Classic Press is striving to be a world-class publishing house with a strong global marketing network.
   
New Classic Press has been actively taking part in all major international book fairs. Since 2008, it has participated in Frankfurt and London International Book Fairs. It has played a vital role in promoting Chinese authors to the world, and taking the Chinese publication company to new heights globally. Today, the New Classic Press is widely respected by the publishing houses both at home and abroad for its high quality work.

In 2009 London International Book Fair, New Classic Press released three major books titled as “China Series”— Thinking in China, Investing in China and Winging in China. The books received orders of over ten thousand copies.

At the 2009 Frankfurt Book Fair, New Classic Press launched Wisdom of Lao Zi, Wisdom of The Analects, Kung Fu in China, Best Food in China and Health Preserving in China. It has also successfully held book exhibitions in British and American Museum. On that book fair, New Classic Press had signed 46 copyright agreements with China Foreign Languages Press. It was the largest agreement of its kind signed by China foreign Language Press in the United Kingdom. The event was attended by Emma, the multinational director of UK Association of Publishing Agencies, and Lady Laura, the senator of British Parliament and director of Literature Ministry.
   
In the 2010 London International Book Fair, New Classic Press brought out a range of books about Chinese martial arts, traditional Chinese medicine, paintings, customs and food. Among other major books released was Dialogue Between Nations, that included speeches by Zhao Qizheng, who is the former head of China’s State Council Information Office.

In September 2010, Liu Binjie, the director of China's General Administration of Press and Publication who was visiting Britain met the representatives of the British Parliament, the Ministry of Culture of the United Kingdom, the Association of British Publishing, and the major UK publishing companies. They discussed and exchanged views about the London Book Fair and the prospects of making China as the guest of the honor. It resulted in the signing of Memorandum of the Activities of China becoming the Guest of Honor in 2012 London Book Fair.

As the only representative of China's private publishing companies attending the signing ceremony, Huang Yongjun, the director of the New Classic Press (UK), had a cordial reception from Liu Binjie. Director Liu appreciated Mr Huang and the Chinese Classic Press for its efforts in promoting the Chinese publishing industry and promised all help from the government to make Chinese publishing companies internationally competitive.

In October 2010 Frankfurt Book Fair New Classic Press (UK) launched 56 books on Chinese culture in English. The event was a massive success and a large numbers of orders were received.

In January 2011, New Classic Press(UK) won the "Creative Cultural Industry" award among the 181 large-scale companies from cultural and creative industry at the "China Construction Bank" awards competition of the new cultural Zhejiang merchants.

At the London Book Fair 2011,New Classic Press introduced a series of academic bestsellers reflecting the mainstream voices of China's scholars such as China Model, China Changes the World, How and Why CPC works in China, See China from Harvard and One Man and One Party---How Mao Changes China. These books were well received by the foreign readers. The leaders of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China, General Administration of Press and Publication and the Chinese Embassy in Britain spoke highly of these books.

In October 2011, New Classic Press(UK) lunched the English version of How and Why CPC Works in China at the 63th Frankfort Book Fair, attracting attentions of the publishers and readers from all over the world. At the same time, the seminars and donation activities on the book were held in Marx's hometown Trier.

On December 23, 2011, the publishing project of library of Chinese Classics and the Commendation Conference on the Advanced Units of Press and Publication Go Out was held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Li Changchun, member of the Politburo Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China, Liu Yunshan, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, and Liu Yandong, an official of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China and State Councillor had attended the conference.
